Vision
The vision of the Postgraduate Program “Environmental health and communication in general and special education and training” of the Department of Public and Community Health of the School of Public Health of the University of West Attica is inspired by the need to create a society where health, environment, and education coexist in harmony. Through this program, students gain expertise in topics related to environmental health, communication, and special education.
More importantly, this program responds to current societal challenges such as sustainable development, health promotion, and the promotion of inclusive education. Through advanced education and communication methods, students learn how to address these challenges and promote health and the environment within a broader community perspective. In this way, the program shapes skilled human capital that contributes to the sustainable daily lives of all citizens, promoting planetary health and sustainability, while promoting social justice and the concept of the Social State. This program responds to the demands of our times, making our society healthier, more environmentally conscious and practicing the principles of inclusion in education.
Object
The Postgraduate Studies Program (MSc. ) “Environmental health and communication in general and special education and training” of the Department of Public and Community Health of the School of Public Health of the University of West Attica aims to further promote scientific knowledge, the development of research and the high level specialization of graduates in theoretical and applied areas on issues related to both the promotion of responsible environmental behavior and health promotion of the participants
In the MSc students understand the role of communication in addressing complex social challenges and issues related to environmental, health and special education issues from various perspectives and especially their broader training in the aforementioned subjects. Communication oriented to the rapid social changes is essential to address some of the major challenges of our time. The transition to sustainable patterns of consumption and production, the methods of health education and health promotion that accompany formal non-formal and informal education, inclusive education and, lastly, the promotion of attitudes among all members of the community are pressing issues. Effective adaptation to contemporary global demands determines the need for a deep understanding of health, environmental and special education issues and their interactions. The MSc promotes the good of planetary health from the perspective of a healthy environment and effective inclusive education and communication, elements that enable all citizens without exception to enjoy an individually, communally and publicly sustainable daily life.
Purpose
The aim of the MSc is to provide high quality postgraduate education in the scientific field of Environmental Communication, Health Promotion and Special Education and Education, providing specific information and promoting critical evaluation skills in relation to environmental issues and Special Education and Education. These skills must be integrated and disseminated in order to promote the educational process in the school environment, both in general and special education, and in the community in general. These skills will enable those concerned to participate and lead in the processes of implementing relevant educational – and not only educational – programs for both the general population and people with disabilities, thus defining the quality of health and the environment in the coming decades.
